Where the US elections 2008 could only manage a 61% (the highest in 40 years) voter turnout in spite of the interest generated by Obama, the first phase of the 15th Election in India had a surprising voter turnout varying from 80% in some constituencies to mark an average turnout of 73% in Kerala & 65 % in A.P & Maharashtra and naxal , maoist infested bihar, chatisgarh, jharkhand, U.P, Orissa recording just around 50%. A higher voter turnout makes predictions difficult. It is when the people as a mass want to make a statement that the turnout rises. If it is low, then the card carrying party members and party strength in that particular constituency determines the outcome. It is the unbiased, non party members who decide the fate and that is exactly what brings them out to vote.

NDA and UDF are both patchwork parties. We certainly do not require these tried & failed group of frauds to govern us. Irrespective of what the party was based on initially, all of them are of the same feather when it comes to corruption and amassing fortunes at the expense of the taxpayers. They are united in this agenda. The election manifestos are a fiasco at best. Nobody believes in it any longer. The media should take interest in spreading awareness of the capabilities & conduct an appraisal of the candidates instead of running behind sensation. Politicians and media has forgotten their purpose in life. For that matter, so have we. It is not an isolated problem. When we, in unison feel the need for change and work towards it, each doing his own bit, there will be a new revolution, a redistribution & a new India.
